What's New with Chunkstyle?

You know what this site needs: more Chunkstyle.  His hopes, his fears, his dreams, his opinions on stupid things that no one else cares about.

But "John Dies At The End" is fun. Really weird though, at first glance it was completely unpenetrable to any logic I could see.. I mean, it was off-putting how weird it was. But to its credit there's a certain charm that shines through as it moves along, and it does follow an internal logic.

Jurassic World is fun for the dinosaur parts.  Just pretend the parts with Chris Pratt flirting with whats-her-name don't exist.

I look forward to seeing them. Since moving to Denmark I've lost my movie-going crew, so I haven't been to a theater in ages. I inevitably end up watching them at home.

We watched The One I Love, and it was great! We thought it was just a rom-com, but it... quickly takes a turn for the odd in a way I won't spoil.

Every time I saw Chris Pratt on screen, I though "Bert Maclin: Dinosaur Trainer". Sadly, only those of you who watch Parks and Rec will get it.

And Shadarr got married. Our boy is growing up!

Glad you've reminded me of it! I'm way behind on his honeymoon blog, and it will be a welcome distraction at work.

(Got weeks of boooring requirement reviews to wade through - and Jesus wept, as far as req management frameworks go, DOORS really sucks the big one. Can't wait to get rid of it and get back to actually implementing shit... )

Finally finished Game of Thrones, I was particularly on edge as the ending approached. Phew!

Ted was a fun movie.

And Knights of Sidonia season 2 somehow grabbed me. Not sure what it is about that show, it's not really great in any way I can put my finger on. But somehow endearing. Maybe it's the 17 minute episodes that makes the whole thing easy to consume.

And finally, in a move I blame entirely on Netflix, I watched 2010. It's been like 20 years since I saw it and to make sense of everything it helps to've read the books.. but I really dig it. I know 2001 is supposed to be the masterpiece of all cinema forever and ever, but 2010 is a hoot nevertheless.

Stumbled into Advantageous on Netflix and it's really good. I found very tense, despite nothing actiony happening. It's low budget but beautifully shot and with efficient use of CGI.

My google-fu appears to be weak. i can't find OpenCrap, I'm presuming it still works since the site looks the same but perhaps the backend stuff has changed and it's not working anymore?

I found CrapSifter and boy that is a great way to find some old fantastic threads and lose track of 75 minutes.

Planet Crap died because you SJW's tried to turn it into a shit "feely good" site like everything else that turned to shit. You got no one to blame but yourselves.

Example: Where are those 2 homos who went to Thailand to get there dicks cut off and be "women"?

Answer: They probably committed suicide because that what people who are fucked up in the head do.

Ergo might have my real name, I'm not sure. I did help Ergo out privately (since none of you SJWs offered)  writing a database for him in Microsoft Access a good many years ago, so who knows (and this is the thanks I get...typical planet crap radical-ism that killed the site).

But that being said, I'm old, I'm set in my ways, I have opinions on things and I express them in my real life as well as on the internet. I am not a fake, I am not an "Internet Tough Guy". I believe what I post.

Zep, It was at a biker bar in Sarasota called something like a sunny place for shady folks. Or something silly like that. And yeah, I didn't meet with you, you got me. I was one of those people I was referring to when I said I remember people needing grow up... I honestly wrote you off because of your professed and stubborn ignorance. I didn't feel there was a lot to be gained by extending myself to you.

My bad there and very short sighted fo me.

And yeah, I'll echo Dum in saying that makes things right in the world for our stubborn, blind bike buddy to be cozying up to some of the most ignorant folks in the world...

Wudi didn't help me in jack shit, privately or otherwise, so he can stuff his whiny "oh he didn't thank me he's a hurtful liberal" bullshit up his withered ass. I asked him a database programming question on this site and that was the extent of it. Period. Nice to see that he admits he's just as a racist, misogynist, backward fuck in real life as he is on the Intarwebs. It's amusing that a scrawny white redneck like him associates himself with biker bars. I can only assume that he's a server at one.

project should open in VS2005

I commented the hell of it so I hope you can figure it out and be able to add some of the stuff
you still need to do that I included in the comments at various points.

if you don't have the Northwind.mdb database, I can zip that up and send it also. You should have it tho if you have ms access installed.

direct any further questions to

i used my default  junk email address to put on the PlCrp post so I won't be checking this one anymore.

The latest "shit watched on flights to be distracted" report:

Dead Rising Watchtower was totally charming, it is 100% what it sets out to be: A video game zombie movie. It hits the game's high-points, the story progresses at a decent pace, and manages to twist the standard zombie formulae just a little bit. Thumbs up for silly action.

Inside Out was charming, and felt very original. Not a ton of LOL moments but that's okay.

Minions was okay. It's exactly what seems like: An overuse of a set of background characters that were never meant to fill a whole movie. But it's fairly funny.

Blackhat was.. okay I guess *shrug*. Average. Inoffensive.

I really dug Maggie, such a strange use of the zombie motif but it pulls it off I think. I might be blinded by my adoration of everything Arnold though.

Mad Max was nice.. Very beautiful, the human deformations and depravity from the earlier movies is used wonderfully. It didn't quite grab me like I thought it would based on the reviews it got though.

Jurassic World was pretty decent, and nicely respectful of its prequels.

Mission Impossible is okay-ish. One scene in particular was a real groaner, but overall a more or less inoffensive action flic. It falls apart if analyzed but, you know, car chases and stuff.

What We Do In The Shadows, on the other hand, is hilarious! It's a New Zealand comedy horror fakeomentary, and at one point I laughed out so loud my seat-neighbors turned around to ask what movie it was (They were Americans of course, no one Nordic would be so bold to "intrude" themselves on another person. I generally like that easy-going talkative nature, it's something we could learn from.. But I digress).

I liked the lady in Mission Impossible a lot more than Tom. No idea who she is or where she's from, but she kicked ass. The movie itself was just all right IMHO. In comparison, I liked Man From Uncle a lot more.
